Join Cinema Nation CIC and Unity Theatre for a Halloween bash with a Queer Twist. When a schoolgirl decides to visit her aunt for the summer and invites a group of friends, it’s not long before their mischievous antics swerve into a kaleidoscopic and bizarre horror journey. Once described as “Scooby Doo on acid”, Hausu was the first feature from director Nobuhiko Obayashi and contains his anti-war themes and experimental cinematography.
“The film, about seven teenage girls being picked off in increasingly bizarre ways in a possessed house, is queer in the way you latch onto when you’re questioning. It’s queer in its atmosphere, and its narrative margins.” Esther Rosenfeld.
